How to split a PDF file Follow
Splitting PDFs is a service that most PDF viewer options do not include in the free version of the software, or require you to upload files to a website, which isn't an acceptable option for confidential documents.
Fortunately, splitting a PDF can be done easily and for free using the Print to PDF option with the steps below.
- Open a PDF document in Adobe Acrobat. In this example, we have a 3 page PDF that we want to extract only the 2nd page out of.
- Open the File menu and select Print
- In the Print interface, use the Printer dropdown menu to select Microsoft Print to PDF, or the alternative Print to PDF option your practice uses.
- In the Pages to Print section of the Print interface, select Pages. This will enable the menu next to it, where you will specify which pages you want. If you wish to choose multiple pages, you can use a dash to specify all pages including and between two page numbers, or a comma if the pages you want are not sequential. In this example however, we just want the 2nd page.
- Once you have specified the pages you want, press print. It will ask you where you wish to save the new PDF. You will also have the opportunity to rename the new PDF (By default it will have the same filename as the original). When you are ready, click Save. Your new document is complete.
